LASIK Benefits and Risks
LASIK eye surgery is used to reduce nearsightedness and farsightedness. It is most successful for people who are mildly to moderately nearsighted, and it is also used to correct astigmatism. Farsightedness is more difficult to treat, and recovery time is longer. The procedure involves minimal operative and postoperative pain. Recovery is rapid and final results are usually achieved within three months. LASIK has fewer complications associated with it than other refractive eye surgeries, but there are risks and you should speak with a lasik surgeon to fully understand them.

Plastic Surgery after Childbirth
The birth of a child is one of the most exciting events in a woman's life. However, it is often distressing, especially to first-time moms, when their bodies do not spring back into pre-pregnancy shape, often leaving them with sagging breasts, stretched abdomens, and an overall matronly feeling. Motherhood now has a new shape. Thanks to advances in cosmetic surgery, postpartum mothers can now reclaim their bikini bodies faster than ever before. Many women, although ecstatic about newfound motherhood, are riddled with insecurity after childbirth due to excessive weight gain in areas which may not have been troublesome before. Women primarily seek two forms of surgery as postpartum "tune-ups"--- abdominoplasty (commonly referred to as a tummy tuck), and breast enhancement surgery (including breast lifts and breast augmentations).

Those numbers rose in 2007 to 11.7 cosmetic procedures and 456,828 liposuction procedures.

Eight Ways to Hold Down Your Health Care Costs
It's common knowledge that the cost of health insurance has shot up in the last decade. Part of the reason is that people with good coverage through their employers consume more health care than they really need, like insisting on an MRI for a headache, or visiting the emergency room when an urgent care center or doctor visit will do.

Cancer: Selecting the Right Oncologist, A Personal View
Two summers ago, our family was dealt a devastating blow when my father was diagnosed with cancer. Up to this point, he had been extraordinarily healthy, in fact, with the exception of surgery to repair a ruptured hernia twenty years ago, I couldn't recall a time when he had missed work due to illness. Yet here he was, sixty-nine years old and scared to death that he wouldn't live to see his seventieth birthday.
