MICRODERMABRASION

What is Microdermabrasion? Microdermabrasion, also known as the "lunch-time peel," is a safe, non-invasive and painless procedure that stimulates a superficial skin resurfacing.

Microdermabrasion revitalises your skin's appearance and texture, promotes the production of new cells in the deeper layers and stimulates the collagen network, promoting firmer, youthful, more vibrant looking skin. It is the most natural way to evenly and safely exfoliate your skin.

Microdermabrasion Procedure

Microdermabrasion utilizes crushed diamonds or salt powder (crystals) to finely resurface superficial layers of skin. When a more aggressive treatment is necessary, vacuum pressure will be increased to evenly penetrate deeper layers of the skin. Microdermabrasion increases your skin's microcirculation, bringing nutrients to the skin and greatly improving the appearance of all imperfections. Microdermabrasion can thoroughly clean your pores and help to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, surface lesions, acne and acne related scarring.

Microdermabrasion Candidates

Microdermabrasion is right for anyone interested in creating healthy and vibrant looking skin. A series of treatments (3 - 8) can improve scarring, fine lines, moderate wrinkles, acne, pigmentation problems including sun damage and uneven tones, as well as dull, lifeless skin.

Microdermabrasion is suitable for males and females of all ages, as well as for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Who Should Not Have Microdermabrasion?

Some people should not have microdermabrasion. Let your skin specialist know if you have undiagnosed lesions, recent herpes outbreaks, warts, Stage 3 or 4 acne, active rosacea, unstable diabetes or any auto-immune disorders. It is also important to let your specialist know about any recent chemical peels or laser surgery.

Microdermabrasion Treatment & Expectations

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, painless treatment taking around 45-60 minutes per session. Some people may experience a slight stinging sensation immediately following the procedure. Although there is no recovery time some skins may remain pink for up to 24 hours after treatment. The strength of the treatment can be tailored to suit your needs.

Expect to experience a slight windburn sensation the evening of your procedure - which will usually disappear by the next morning. Your skin will dry and you may experience some slight peeling a couple of days after your procedure. This is the purpose of the procedure. Apply a high quality moisturiser and a broad-spectrum sun block as instructed.

Your skin should look and feel clean and smooth directly following the treatment. With each successive treatment you skin will become more even-toned and textured. Once the dull dead skin has been removed you will notice an overall improvement. This usually is quite noticeable after the third treatment. Initially treatments are usually performed every 10-14 days with an average of six sessions required.

Maintaining results requires a top-up treatment every two or three months in most people.
