A facelift surgery cannot stop the aging process, but can "stop the clock" so to speak. Sagging or wrinkled skin occurs naturally with increasing age. Folds and fat deposits appear around the neck, and deep flexion creases form between the nose and mouth. A facelift can improve the most visible signs of aging that can result in a younger looking you.
Facelift Surgery Procedure
The facelift procedure is done under general anesthesia and takes between 2-5 hours to complete. Often, a brow lift is done at the same time as a face lift. The incisions are usually made in front of and behind the ears. The incisions extend along the hairline and above the ears. The skin is lifted of the face in an upward motion around the neck and cheeks. Excess fat and skin are removed, muscles are tightened, and the skin is pulled back towards the top or back of the head and stitched into place. Drains and a head wrap may be used after facelift surgery.
