LASIK Eye Surgery - An Overview
LASIK Eye Surgery for Laser Vision Correction is used to reduce nearsightedness (myopia) and farsightedness (hyperopia). It is most successful for people who are mildly to moderately nearsighted, and it is also used to correct astigmatism. Farsightedness is more difficult to treat and the recovery time is longer. The LASIK procedure involves minimal operative and postoperative pain. Recovery from LASIK eye surgery is rapid and final results are usually achieved within three months. LASIK has fewer complications associated with it than other refractive eye surgeries. There are also other types of LASIK eye surgery procedures such as Bladeless All Laser LASIK, Custom LASIK, Epi-LASIK and LASEK. All of these procedures offer eye care consumers with different needs, the potential to eliminate their dependence on eyeglasses or contact lenses. LASIK surgeons can help you determine if LASIK is right for you. Most LASIK surgeons provide several types of LASIK eye surgery procedures mentioned above.

All Laser LASIK
By Dominick Benedetto, MD
New Jersey LASIK Eye SurgeonLASIK is a surgical procedure that reshapes the cornea (the front surface of the eye) beneath a constructed surface flap. The procedure is analogous to shaving down a bump in the floor beneath a surface rug(flap). Fortunately, this is a painless procedure performed with topical anesthesia. The surface flap, like a rug, can be constructed with an oscillating microscopic blade, as most flaps are created, or in a “bladeless’ procedure with a laser known as “Bladeless LASIK” or “All Laser LASIK”.
